General Meeting 9.11.2024

  • Executive Committee Introductions

    • Sam James -President

      • Provided general welcome and brief overview of Lea HSA

      • Our goal is to support the Lea community-students, families, faculty and staff throughout the year

      • Everyone at Lea is part of the HSA and we welcome your involvement and ideas!

    • Denise Napper -Treasurer

    • Dorothy Mejia-Smith-Secretary and Scholastic Book Fair Chair

    • Kathleen Sullivan-School Spirit Chair

      • Spirit efforts are for both students and teachers. We want to show our support for all they do for our students

    • Bret Logue-Fundraising Chair

      • Focused on raising support from Lea community and the wider West Philly Community to support and enhance the experience at Lea for both students and faculty/staff

      • Last year the HSA raised $10,000, which supported a variety of initiatives. This year’s goal is $20,000.

  • Remarks from Principal Snyder

    • What made her excited about Lea was the strong community rallying around the school

    • She has heard from a lot of families over the summer/this school year about their hopes/aspirations for the year and for Lea generally

    • Will be sharing more details at Back to School Night, but has three main priorities for the year:

      • Climate and culture

        • Making the building a space where students want to come and learn

        • Beautify the space

        • Establish systems and procedures to ensure that all students are safe and have what they need to learn and thrive

      • Communication

        • She hopes everyone received the Month-Lea update

        • Focused on opening the lines of communication

      • Creating a culture of learning

        • Building incentives for growth

        • Working with the student council

  • As a neighbor and member of our community she is excited to begin this journey with us and plans to be here for a long time
