Notes:

1. Updates from Mr. Gerwer

   1. Staffing updates - Coach Middleton left, we have hired a replacement (name?) and will have additional recess support from Playworks, Ms. Hankinson left, Ms. Muhammad will be moving to 1st grade, we are actively interviewing for a new 6th grade teacher, Ms. Clarke is moving to 3rd grade, Ms. Wilson was hired for the open kindergarten position

   2. Planning within our spaces to socially distance children (rec. is 3 feet)

   3. We won’t have as much PD time availalbe this year as last, but we do have a care team working on restorative justice - they will have weekly community meetings & will work together with PBIS

   4. Focus on building classroom culture as we come back to in-person schooling this year

   5. There will be a “West Philly” classroom project in the fall across the school. For the first few months we will focus on welcoming kids back & having restorative conversations and then will move into fun projects to engage kids

   6. Friday Aug 27th: welcome back BBQ/school tours

   7. Saturday Aug 21st: kindergarten playdate

   8. We are tentatively planning for UACS support 8-8:30 am before school (in addition to after-care)

   9. Kindergarten will have half days for the 1st week of school

   10. We will plan to have the uniform bins available at the start of school for families who need uniforms

   11. Field trips are on hold for now

2. Financial Report

   1. Total available: $3,442.01 (checking), $213.86 (cash)

      1. We have a new EIN and are working to open a new bank

   2. Scholastic dollars: $4,405.75

1. Online fundraiser starting this week: Funding Fun!

   1. Help with spreading the word

   2. Ideas for how to spend the money? Group events, things for the new outside space where the L wing was? Probably will depend on how much we’re able to raise

1. August 21 yard clean up and kindergarten play date

   1. Will need volunteers for gardening/clean-up (mulching, weeding, etc)

      1. Adam looking into free mulch

      2. Supplies to bring: weeding tools, brown bags, mulch, trash grabbers, trash bags

1. Other playground/garden opportunities

   1. POP looking to connect with Mr. Gerwer

   2. Take down chicken wire composting area

   3. Adam emailed UC Green about sourcing a tree stump grinder, waiting to hear back

   4. Rachael will look into getting a free little library

   5. Kimberly would like to dedicate tree/bench in the fall

      1. Mr. Gerwer will talk with Asst. Superintendent

      2. Adam is going to talk with Kimberly

   1. Will plan to do Zoom meetings the second Wednesday of each month at 7pm. Dates:

   1. Will plan to make a Google doc to brainstorm ideas

   2. Selling swag, getting the word out about the HSA and our Google Group/listserve and Facebook page, will plan to have uniform bins available at that time

2. Will get back into some volunteer recruiting (Mr. Rich/Mr. Brown facilitating orientation, etc)
