Notes:

1. Updates from Principal G

  • The FamiLea Fair was a success! Huge thanks to Mr. Rich and everyone who helped out.

  • Friday there’s a Penn partnership kickoff, Dr. Hite, the UPenn president, and the PFT president will be coming to the school and meet with students in the auditorium

  • PSSAs coming up end of April through mid-May

  • Looking at ways we can help the families who were affected by a recent apartment fire

2. HSA election announcement: nominees for Vice-President/Secretary are being accepted here (see email from Asher for more information) by April 15: NOMINATION FORM

3. Book Fair is coming up!

  • May 18, 19, 20 from 10:30am-3:30pm (set up starting at 9:30, break down ending at 4pm)

  • We need volunteers! Set up/fair staffing/break down each day, plus bakers! Email leahomeandschool@gmail.com if you can help out, even just for a short amount of time

  • Table at May Fair (12-7pm) – sponsor free books fundraiser ($10 - buy a kid a book) // Adam will coordinate, will need at least one other volunteer

  • A bunch of people are willing to help – need to send out a sign up sheet

4. Financial Report

  • Total available: $6,826.71 ($3292.71 is available outside of the amount earmarked toward picnic tables ($2034) and for the next book fair (~$1500)

  • Scholastic Dollars balance: $1639.63

  • Amount raised at the FamiLea festival: $635.32

5. Purchases from now-June (roughly $5,000 outside of book fair funds)

Let’s focus on things we might want to buy now. Will think through these ideas and come up with a plan for spending.

  • Masks (⅓ adults masks, ⅔ kids sized masks)

  • Do at least: A week’s worth is 600 for students and 200 for masks

  • Trash cans (usually ~$500 each) + chains

  • Kindergarten move up – reimburse staff for food costs?

  • 8th grade gifts - we can donate Lea branded swag

  • Might need to do a reorder of the tie dye shirts

  • Need adults sizes

  • Teacher appreciation gifts - hand-crafted care packages might be better; free lunch could work too. Lunch cost ~$1200-1500 depending on the restaurant. Product that has kid quotes? Lea-branded coffee cup with goodies inside?

6. Yard projects

  • Ground markings project - floor plan? Not ready yet

  • Fixing playground hole - date? (will need to rope off playground for at least 24 hours for curing) – Rachael will do it on a weekend.

  • April clean up - and maybe gardening? April 30 or May 1 - Adam will write back to Emma at the District about when she could place the order for plants.

  • Bench in honor of Kim’s mother – Adam is working on figuring out the concrete pad so that we can install a bench

  • New tree in honor of Sergei Nussl – cherry tree from Philadelphia Orchard Project (Adam will nail this down)

  • There is some brick/debris in the ground near the gate on 48th street – we can take a look at this and see.

7. Family engagement projects

Kindergarten open house planning – April 19 – maybe 5:30pm shift and 6pm shift (presentation + walk through + presentation again for latecomers)

  • Schedule a meeting next week with anyone from HSA who can co-host (1-2 people) (We have an existing presentation to work from)

  • Will want to do it in person

  • Will need to help broadcast the information to our networks

  • Rich could use help making a flyer
