1-27-21 Meeting Notes

Updates from Principal G


- Transitioning back to in-person school

  1. all but 5 rooms passed ventilation test, should have updated report by the end of the week & all rooms operational

  2. We have document cameras, teachers will teach both groups of children (in person and remote)

  3. Full reopening plan ready Monday - plan for first town hall on 2/8

  4. Had a facilities walk through - have table dividers, social distancing protocols

  5. Initially will plan to have kids come back who signed up in October

  6. Probably cohorts of ~6 to start

  7. Back to school celebration?

- Out of catchment families with a sibling at Lea can fill out the registration form through central registration to have younger siblings enroll AND the form that Mr. G distributed.


Finance report

- Total $ Available: $4,484.08

  1. School supplies available: $2,586.59

  2. Staff Gift: We raised $835.55 and spent $1,372.74

  3. Food Funds: We have spent all the money and given the remaining cards to Mr. Hollenbach

- Mr. G has Aldi cards if families need additional help with food funds

- Scholastic dollars available: $3,477.55


Project updates

- Lea baseball shirt order (Adam) : $12 each for ~30-40, would need to pay up front. How much should we ask? $15-20 price point? Quantity 40-50? Sell at the supply distribution event? What is the lead time?

- Scholastic book order from December: Most books are still at the school


New projects

- Familea Arcade Night - 6-10 gift cards of $20 each. Choice of electronic card for winners, Mr. G will notify us with winners’ information and we’ll give each winner a few options for how they would want the gift card (e.g. Aldi, Nintendo, app stores, Wawa, etc.) and email it


- Supply Drive: Week of Feb. 15? (May need to push back to Feb. 22)

  1. Headphones for older kids - roughly 30-- Looking at 6th-8th grade

  2. Books that people have ordered for students via Scholastic, etc.

  3. Basic supplies

    1. We need detailed lists of highest priority items per grade band

    2. Will need volunteers for assembly (RG is available Fridays/weekends/weeknights to help, ML willing to help)

-Supports for Reopening - TBD!


- Monthly contest idea - let’s just have a panel of judges or staff could vote via anonymous google form; Feb, March, April, and May; Ideas:

  1. Draw your teacher / Draw your principal

  2. Dance move

  3. Short Story

  4. Build a place Philly / invention / Rube Goldberg

  5. Poem, funny hat, popsicle stick creations

Fair funding and safety advocacy (Mike)
