Chil-Lea Cook-Off FAQ

1. What is Chil-Lea?

 

Chili is defined as any meat or combination of meats cooked with chili peppers, various other spices, or other ingredients. Plant-based chilis are made with plant-based proteins and ingredients, excluding any meat or animal products. Chil-Lea is all that – but made with Love for Lea and our community.

 

2. What’s a cook-off?

 

A cook-off is a friendly competition among friends and neighbors to see who makes the best of a certain dish. It’s a time-honored tradition to compete over chili. People come together and share their family favorite or something new they've tried, and bond over good food and a good time.

 

3. Who makes the chili?

 

We do! Anyone can contribute a chili to the cook-off! We will have prizes in several categories, including vegetarian, traditional and most creative! But, you don't have to contribute a chili to come join in the yummy fun.

4. Who wins the competition? 

 

Whoever gets the most votes! With entry, you receive sample cups for all the chilis you care to try. After sampling, you’ll be able to vote online. Winners will be announced and awarded prizes at the end of the cook-off.

 

5. When’s our Chil-Lea Cook-Off?

 

November 23, 2024, 2-4 pm. It’s between lunch and dinner, but come with an appetite if you like! In addition to sampling chili and voting on it, you can go back for your favorites and use our toppings bar to make a feast!

 

6. How can I join in the fun?

 

Come vote on the chili! Our suggested donation price for tickets is $15 per adult, $10 for children ages 6-17 and free for children 5 and under. Purchase tickets here.
