Henry C. Lea Elemenary in West Philadelphia is a special place. The Home and School Association (HSA) is committed to showing up -- through volunteering, community building, fundraising and pitching in wherever we're needed -- to make Lea a wonderful place to learn and grow.

Would you like to show your love for Lea by joining the HSA Executive or Special Committees?

The following positions are open. Please submit a few sentences about why you'd be good for the job by 5 pm Wednesday, June 12 to leahomeandschool@gmail.com. An election for contested positions will take place at our final meeting.

           Secretary and Treasurer positions are open on the Executive Committee. 

 

Fundraising Committee Chair – Work closely with Exec Team to establish a budget and meet financial input and output goals. They build a team of folks to support them in a variety of fundraisers, including local business partnerships, passive fundraisers (like popcorn and a 50/50), community fundraisers (e.g., movie night, dances, cook-offs), and more.

Pretzel Chair – Coordinates with Mr. Brown for ongoing pretzel sales.

 

Book Fair Chair – Leads Book Fair! They can decide to hold it once or twice over the course of the year.

 

Merch Chair – Design, order, maintain inventory and sell Lea merch. 

 

School Spirit Captain – Keep track of appreciation event and milestones, plan celebrations, decorate bulletin boards, etc.

 

Communications Helper – Help keep website and outdoor bulletin boards up-to-date. Make copies where needed, pitch in on fliering, leafleting, skywriting, etc. Begin to build corps of folks who can help with interpretation. 

 

Sports Captain – Help support our basketball team through supporting coaches, advocating for “home” games and celebrating players. Sports captain may choose to support intramural sports (i.e., our after-school soccer and other programs) as well!

 

Musical Chair(s) – Ha! Support our annual musical production by helping to raise funds, organizing volunteers, managing tickets sales, concession and entry, and celebtrating participants. 

 

Middle School Specialist – Work with AP Barney Cheney and her team to support the Middle School Academy, through special events (dances, science fairs, field trips, you name it), fundraising, graduation activities, high school and college exploration and more.
